Blood Cancer Awareness27 Sep
September is Blood Cancer Awareness Month, which draws attention to blood cancers such as leukaemia. One third of all childhood cancers are leukaemia, with approximately 400 new cases in the UK each year. More than half of these diagnoses are in children under five.
Alfie was diagnosed with leukaemia just a few days before his second birthday. “It was utterly unexpected, as he had very few symptoms,” said mum Harriet. After three years of treatment at Chelsea Children’s Hospital, Alfie is now healthy and well. "He’s doing brilliantly," says mum Harriet. "We have little wobbles sometimes; it’s hard not to worry! But he’s in super shape."
